MENTAL TRAINING

This training teaches you some mental skills that will help you perform optimally..

Reasons to do the training:

  • You experience difficulties prior to a concert: you sleep badly, feel tense, or are moody (prickly, angry or anxious)

  • You find it difficult to concentrate during a concert and are easily distracted
  • You freeze up, lose your self-confidence or experience stage fright
  • You are afraid of making a mistake or blacking out
  • You are a conservatory student, do not have much stage experience and want to improve expand your self-awareness

AUDITION TRAINING

In this training you will learn how to perform at your best during an audition.
We will examine all facets of the audition, from preparation through post-performance evaluation. You will be given many practical tips, do’s and dont’s.

Effects of the training:

  • You can concentrate more effectively and are less easily distracted
  • You are able to recover more quickly after making a mistake
  • You are able to practice efficiently and sensibly, being aware of what, how and why to practice
  • You are aware of your thoughts, feelings and behaviour on stage
  • You are able to control your anxiety
  • You are able to set realistic short- and long-term goals

Technics:

  • Feedback will be provided based on video recordings
  • There is made use of exposure by virtual reality glasses so you can experience the audition lifelike
  • The HeartMath training method: clinical studies show that there is a connection between heart rhythm variability (HRV) and health, cognitive functioning and physical performance. It is possible to influence the heart rhythm and so bring about positive effects on a physical, emotional and mental level. You can download the HeartMath method as app on your phone.


Procedure

Upon telephone or e-mail contact, you will be invited for an intake interview. Based on this interview, which may include questionnaires, we will map out a plan for your treatment. The treatment falls under short-term psychological help with a maximum of 16 sessions.

The audition training and mental training consists of an average of ten sessions. Each session lasts one hour. You are expected to bring your instrument to each training.

In addition to individual trainings, it is also possible to arrange group trainings (for music schools, amateur orchestras or wind bands).

Insurance coverage

The treatment falls under ‘short-term psychological help’ provided by a registered NIP psychologist / Cognitive Behavioural therapist.
